With small upgrades, the Micro MAX can be converted to a Mini MAX, Junior MAX and even a Senior MAX - a concept that offers the owner one engine for his entire kart racing career. This offers you, as a rider, the advantage that you only have to buy an engine once for years.
When BRP started its kart engine business in the 1980s, the company dominated the market because of its extensive experience in powerful two-stroke engines. Rotax engines have won the most kart race titles - and still the list of general championship titles. At the moment there was a clear separation between development and production (BRP-Rotax) and sales & marketing (one distributor was responsible for all markets). The high level of competition on the market required the continued development of Rotax 100 cc kart engines that increased costs and limited market potential.
Future,
In 1995 the company had to make a strategic decision - either continue with the kart business or stop it altogether. To meet the needs of the customer, it was necessary to develop a completely new engine technology: easy to use, less maintenance, technical continuity and durability - all this to keep the costs for the sport under control. The company decided to go further and set standards by launching a new engine concept in 1997, based on its extensive experience with two-stroke technology for recreational applications: the Rotax Max 125cc with many new features for the karting world.
Launch of the DD2,
In 2002, BRP launched the Rotax Max 125cc DD2 engine with direct drive (no chain) in combination with a two-speed gearbox (operated by gearshift paddles) to continue its way to low-maintenance and challenging products.
Launch of Evo,
Rotax Max presented the next generation karting engine - the Rotax Max 125cc evo engine series - in November 2014. The Evo engine series with its advanced engine technology is an evolution of the existing Rotax MAX engine series, known for its high reliability and value.
